New Refrigerant Update
In 2010 air conditioner refrigerant will change from R22 to R410-a. R-410-a is also referred to by the brand names of Puron, Genetron R410a, and AZ-20.  This new refrigerant and the new refrigeration equipment is available now, you do not need to wait.

There is currently not a lot difference in the price of the new air conditioning units and HVAC/refrigeration equipment.  However R22 refrigerant will become increasingly more expensive with time, increasing the cost of maintenance of older HVAC equipment.
